How this city was built
A block-built interpretation of Kabukicho, Tokyo: explore its streets, climb its buildings and leave a hand-drawn mark. The Japanese title is らくがき歌舞伎町.
Real geography, fictional shops
Road directions, building footprints and the position of the Ichibangai gate come from OpenStreetMap data retrieved September 10–12, 2026. Facades and street details were reconstructed using photographs and local reference material. Heights, unseen walls, rooftop equipment and many small dimensions are estimates. References span multiple years; this is not an exact survey of the city on a single date.
Shop names, logos, advertisements, portrait characters and displayed prices are fictional. Reference photographs are not pasted into the game. The Japanese lettering is part of the city scenery and remains Japanese in both interface languages.
Places and reference material
- Ichibangai gate footprint and Ichibangai road alignment.
- Shinjuku city landscape guidance and outdoor advertising guidance informed the district's visual character.
- Golden Gai's official association map, with street photographs and alley photographs.
- The parking operator's location and capacity record and mapped footprint locate the host billboard parking lot.
- Shinjuku hotel association listings and hotel access information helped identify the Love Hotel District. Its entrances and facades were individually interpreted from photos.
- The batting cage footprint and exterior reference informed the northeast area.
The detailed Japanese research log lists the remaining building, store, convenience store and skyline references, dates and limits of the reconstruction.
Exploration and drawings
Only the playable area supports movement and painting. Faint areas on the map and distant buildings continue the scenery beyond that boundary. Climbing smooth walls is a game ability. Interiors and rooftops include artistic interpretation.
Select a reachable surface within 3.5 m of your character and draw by hand in a roughly 1 m space. Your mark follows the actual surface and is clipped at its edges. Saved drawings are visible to people with access to this Site. You can edit and delete your own drawings; you cannot overwrite someone else's.
Explore and try drawing without signing in. Sign in with Google or email to save artwork in up to three places at a time for free. Each additional place has its own monthly subscription, with a base price of US$1 per month including applicable taxes. Repainting the same subscribed place is free; subscriptions cannot be moved to another place. Removing artwork does not cancel its subscription. When renewal is stopped, artwork is hidden after the paid period ends. Local-currency prices may include a conversion fee; review the billing currency and final total at checkout. See pricing and purchase terms. Earlier prototype drawings are preserved outside the free allowance. Drawings exist only in this game; they do not grant rights over real buildings or outdoor advertising.
